Fall 2014: Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken
Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken is a funny anime. I just wish it was as long as its name. It is very difficult to show anything worthwhile in three and half minutes, 30 seconds out of which is the ending.
ED: For such a short anime, the ending is quite long. That doesn’t make it – on the contrary, it is relaxing and suitable for the anime. The bath scene is also good.
Voice acting: The voices were okay, but didn’t fit the characters that much in my opinion. Especially Kaoru – I did not expect her to have the voice of a loli. Oh well.
Visuals: Simple, yet brilliant. All those different facial expressions that the characters make are a huge part of what makes this anime any good and funny.
Characters and story: Kaoru and Hajime got married. Now they spend all their days together, enjoying the life in marriage. At least that’s what Kaoru hopes for. That’s it. There’s no story here, at least so far, and I can’t imagine it coming at a later time either. The anime focuses on very short humorous situations, showing Hajime as a hardcore otaku, and Kaoru as the good wife who tries to do activities together. None of those end well of course, but at least the viewer should get a laugh out if it. I certainly did.
Conclusion: If only this anime was longer. At least by a few minutes. It would be able to expand on the humorous situations and show more. As it is now, as soon as it starts getting good, the scene changes and we are already fed a new joke. The plot itself has potential, but this anime hardly has any chance of using it well.
